The Bialetti Moka Express Stove-top Coffeemaker
The Italian company Bialetti was founded in 1919 by Alfonso Bialetti. In 1933 he designed the now iconic Moka express stove-top coffeemaker. La Moka translates to ‘the little machine’
The Moka Express is made from high grade aluminium, features the distinctive 8-sided design and the famous l’omino con i baffi, ‘the mustachioed little man’ logo - a nod to Alfonso’s son Renato.
Today, Bialetti have manufactured over 220 million coffee makers and the Moka Express is more popular than ever.
The Bialetti Moka Express is formed of two compartments. Fresh water is placed in the bottom compartment, when the water is heated it expands and percolates up through the funnel and ground coffee into the top compartment where the freshly browed coffee can be poured.
Care: Hand wash only. Not suitable for dishwashers. Not suitable for induction hobs.
